Active reserve of the Lithuanian Armed Forces is comprised of military personnel who have acquired basic military training in the Lithuanian Armed Forces or equivalent training in accordance with the standards of knowledge and skills necessary for soldiers established by the Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, and who are below the age of 60. Orders are sent to the selected reserve military conscripts to come to a regional section of the Military Conscription and Recruitment Service where compliance of conscripts with the established requirements is checked, after which the conscripts are assigned tasks and training in military units to renew their military knowledge and skills. The training lasts from 20 to 60 days during a period of ten years according to the plan approved by the Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces for calling reserve military conscripts to participate in military tasks and training.
Cases of exemption from conscription and postponement of compulsory military service are provided for in Articles 3 and 15 of the Law on National Conscription. If there are circumstances under which a conscript may be released from conscription or compulsory military service may be postponed, the conscript must submit documents verifying the circumstances under which the conscript can be released from conscription or compulsory military service may be postponed under individual procedure. A conscript summoned to participate in the military training of reserve military conscripts, or perform military service tasks can submit an application to a regional section of the Military Conscription and Recruitment service to postpone his or her military service due to disproportionately large damage to the interests of the conscript or public interests, if the conscript believes that such damage would occur, but could be avoided if the conscript undergoes military service at another time. Applications submitted by conscripts regarding postponement of military service for reserve military conscripts are examined by the Selective Recruitment Commission. Training of reserve military conscripts shall be postponed for a calendar year from the date the application is received by the institution, or for a shorter period of time, by taking into account the circumstances of the application.
Before a reserve military conscript is summoned to participate in military tasks and training, his or her health must be checked by the Military Medical Examination Commission which determines the suitability of conscripts to serve in reserve.
Active reserve military conscripts shall be paid a salary for the days of service in the reserve equal to the salary of a professional military service soldier of an appropriate rank based on the military rank or on the average salary received at the main place of work (a certificate must be provided). 100 percent of the official salary of a professional military service soldier shall be paid for the days of service during the first year of service based on the soldier's rank, for example, if soldier military rank is junior private and you are summoned to participate in military tasks and training that will last 21 days, he will receive a salary of around 650 - 680 EUR. If the average salary received by the conscript in his or her main job is higher than the official salary calculated for reserve military conscripts, a salary equal to the average salary paid in the main job of the reserve military conscript shall be paid to the conscript, if it does not exceed an amount equal to two average monthly salaries of the national economy published by the Lithuanian Department of Statistics. It should be noted that reserve military conscripts are provided with clothing, food, accommodation and social guarantees.
